Great article on the deadlift.

That Mark Rippetoe video (and another he made on the deadlift that is also available on YouTube) are more than enough education to get started safely and properly.

I am lucky enough to have been given an old olympic weight set by a friend who no longer had the room to store it.

But with that said, I think that a useful at-home, low budget deadlift option is to make your own sandbag using an old army duffel and some pea gravel.

You can have over 200 lbs of weight for under $20. Compare that with spending hundreds on a weight set.

Anyways, as a cheapskate by default, I think about these sorts of things sometimes.

Thanks again for the post,

Very informative article you have here. Deadlifts are really a surefire way to bulk on muscle mass. To experience the full benefits of the deadlift, make sure you do it with proper technique. Otherwise, you'll end up injuring yourself. Remember to keep your proper form in this exercise.
